Universal by virtue of its pure classicism, the original 1931 collection from Louis Erard is undergoing a subtle evolution.
Offered in rose gold at the time of the brand’s golden jubilee, the 1931 – GMT Big Date and Moon Phase timekeepers have now been reinvented by the Le Noirmont watchmaker. Never at a loss for inspiration, Louis Erard has enriched the dial – available in white and chocolate brown – with an audacious flange: lovers of beauty with very fashionable tastes will be won over by the spacious impression it gives.
The new models have an imposing presence, with their assertive lines reflecting the character of the resolutely contemporary man. Their rose gold case is elegantly set off by the genuine crocodile strap, embellished with an 18K rose gold buckle. Equipped with a moon phase or, in the case of the GMT Big Date version with a second time zone, this timepiece is available in a limited skeleton edition: only 99 pieces with a white dial and 50 with a chocolate brown dial will leave the brand’s workshops.
These are rare and precious models. The seconds tick away, reminding us of the inexorable passing of time. An evocation of the imperceptible moment in all its intensity. And yet there is also a sensation of movement, a powerful awareness of being part of history: therein lies the whole secret of the 1931 collection. |
